Chloe Poses

I probably did over 50 poses over the last week with Chloe. Here is a sample of some of them, some good, some not so good but I am playing with it a lot to get a feel for how she'll move and stuff. The ones in the square are nailed down proportion wise and as far as what appeals to me as a whole, I consider those ones the best of the bunch...it's funny they have the same expression (complete coincidence). I am still working on the story, it's coming along. Things feel like they are really coming together, I've done some boards and tweaked the other characters designs but I will probably be keeping most of it under wraps from now on.

Thanks for all the help I've recieved from everyone so far, please keep the crits coming.

FCBD!

I went down and took part in Free Comic Book Day today. I got a ton of free comics but the coolest thing of all was I got to meet one of my all time favorite artists and a huge inspiration of mine, Darwyn Cooke. He did a killer Black Canary sketch for me (below) and afterwards was nice enough to chat with me while he went outside for a smoke. I'll definitley remember this day for a long time to come.

I also met another great local artist, Mike Holmes. He did a fantastic Catwoman (below) for me and hopefully soon we'll get together and do some drawin'!

Good day!

Finally!

I am finally getting the hang of photoshop thanks to the awesome help of Mr. David Dick.

This is my first finished piece where I actually had a grasp on what I was doing and not getting crazy flustered to the point where I want to throw my mac off my 13th floor balcony. It went good and I'm happy with the results, I really dig this look more than the uber clean lines that flash gives me, it takes a lot of the life out of the sketch and thats something I already struggle with, the last thing I need is a tool that takes that further.

So crit away, my lighting skills are practically nil and I have a lot to learn in that respect, but crit away, I'm gonna need it.

Ollie Johnston 1912-2008

Ollie Johnston passed away today, He was 95 years old and the last of the 9 old men. I am truly saddened by this, just as I was when Frank Thomas passed in 2004 and Ward Kimball in 2002. In my time in animation they were the last 3 surviving members of the 9 old men, and I soaked up all the knowledge I could gather from them in books and online. Theirs is a legacy that will never be forgotten, they truly ARE animation and they lived it till their last days. I hope that I can one day leave my mark on the world as they did.

RIP, Ollie.

Peachy!

*Updated with a finished version, decided to take this one all the way*
A quickie done tonight, finally nailed a pose I try all the time and can never get right (I think I nailed it anyways). Gathered some inspiration from Patrick Paradis' blog, he draws some hottie's for reals!
